Spaso House, Moscow, Russia - Ambassador's Residence
From 2018 - 2020 three of my paintings where on exhibition at Spaso House, the historic residence of the United States Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Of all the social events held in Spaso House, the most famous was the Spring Ball of the Full Moon hosted by the new American Ambassador William Bullitt on April 24, 1935. The decorations included a forest of ten young birch trees in the chandelier room, a dining room table covered with Finnish tulips, a lawn made of chicory grown on wet felt; an aviary made from fishnet filled with pheasants, parakeets, and one hundred zebra finches, on loan from the Moscow Zoo; and a menagerie of several mountain goats, a dozen white roosters, and a baby bear. The festivities lasted until the early hours of the morning. Mikhail Bulgakov who had been one of the guests transformed this event into one of the most memorable episodes of his novel 'The Master and Margarita'. 'The Master and Margarita' is one of the greatest novels of all time and my personal favorite.
US Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan
In 2016 three of my paintings where installed In the lobby of the Us Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan through the Art in Embassies program of the US State Department. It comprised of two existing paintings from the Sierra Nevada here in California and the commission of a painting of an image from the Karakoram range in Northern Pakistan. Initially we discussed sponsoring a trip to the Baltoro Glacier which runs through the Karakoram range but it was ruled out because of security concerns. The Miter is a peak directly opposite of K2, the highest peak in that range and the second highest in the world..
